Language
We are learning about Figurative Language this week! The students are working on a figurative language flip book in class, although they may be asked to complete a page or two for homework. This should really help them out when we tackle writing. It will be taken as a major grade!
We are still working on Subjects and Predicates in grammar. They will be tested one day next week over complete and simple subjects and predicates. Their grammar interactive notebook is a great study guide!

Reading
We are still reading Skinnybones, and we are all enjoying it! I am really encouraging the students to monitor their comprehension these last six chapters. They have created a chart in their Reading Response Journal where they are recording a method they used to better comprehend each chapter after every reading.
I am hoping to finish the book early next week and administer a final test next week as well.

Social Studies
We are finishing up Chapter 1 in our Social Studies text book this week. The students will begin a review. Please look for a MAJOR test to be given over the entire chapter at the beginning of next week (Tuesday, 9/29 or Wednesday, 9/30). This test WILL NOT be open book, but if your child knows the review he or she will do great!
